This modest chapel was erected in 1850 by Felix Seurrat de la Boulaye, mayor of La Ferté-Saint-Aubin from 1848 to 1888,
in order to house a 17th century coloured wooden statue of the virgin (historic monument since 1980) that had been found
in the attic of the St-Michel church, were it had been hidden during the french revolution.
In the immediate vicinity of the oratory, there is a source that was once venerated for its healing properties.
A pilgrimage is organised by the parish of La Ferté-Saint-Aubin on the third sunday in august.
Many ex-votos surround the statue.
In practice, the chapel is located in a wooded environment about 5km southwest of the railway station (route des Trays) - see access map above.
